Plea in Homicide Case
District Attorney Bill Adair announces plea agreements reached in the March 27, 2023 homicide of Landon Rader. This is the first homicide prosecution of a drug related overdose. The facts in this case include the initial overdose, the failure to call for medical attention for Landon Rader and the inducing the ingestion of additional narcotics, all of which contributed to Landon’s death. Following a thorough investigation by the Walker County Sheriff's Office, headed by Jason Bridges, supervised by Captain Darrell Mote and assisted by Mike Cole, Brian Keeton, Bryant Parkhurst, Slade Reeves and Tony Reid, Indictments were brought against Jamie Rader, father of Landon Rader, Ryan Clark and Tonya Keene. Through the diligence of law enforcement and the tireless work of Assistant District Attorney Garve Ivey, III preparing this case for trial, plea agreements were reached for all three defendants on February 3, 2025.
Ryan Clark plead to Felony Murder with a 25 year prison sentence, Jamie Rader plead to Reckless Manslaughter with a 15 year prison sentence and Tonya Keene plead to Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance with a 15 year prison sentence, with 3 years to serve.
